Who the space suits
The City describes its Commercial district as one for "a wide range of retail, service, and office uses." Under the City's table of uses, shops, restaurants, professional offices, barber and cosmetology services, self-service laundromats, photography studios and minor medical clinics are permitted uses in that district.
See the directory for the businesses here now. A new business should still confirm its own use with the City before it signs a lease. The tenant resources page lists the offices to call.
Zoning
The City's own zoning map puts all three parcels in the Commercial (COM) district. None of the three lies in a historic, canyon rim, wellhead, professional office or parking overlay on that map. Older listings and leases may call this district C-1 Commercial Highway, the name the City used before its Uniform Development Code took effect on January 1, 2026.
In the Commercial district the code sets a 50 foot height limit, with exceptions listed in the code. Front setbacks are 20 feet on major arterials and 10 feet on other streets, and the Planning and Zoning Commission may adjust them where a street already has established building lines. Side and rear setbacks are not required next to existing commercial use, and are 25 feet next to residential use with four or fewer units per building. Off-street parking and landscaping follow the City's parking and landscaping chapters.
A use marked P in the City's table is permitted by right and needs a Zoning Compliance Permit. A use marked S needs special exception review. A few uses, such as body art studios, are marked Z in the Commercial column, so ask Planning and Zoning what that means for your use. A use that is not listed is decided by the Zoning Officer on a formal request. Ask Planning and Zoning about your exact use before you commit. This page is a summary, not legal advice.
